Three mini-rants for the price of one:
One does not generally 'oppress' a smirk. The word you're looking for is, I think, 'suppress.' I gave you a couple more paragraphs for the benefit of the doubt, but when your two characters started talking to each other like middle school kids instead of middle-aged adults, and you managed to contradict and mangle your timeline within two paragraphs, Mr Back Button got a little love.
---
"We're going to talk about this Bob." =/= "We're going to talk about this, Bob." Kind of has different connotations.
---
Every time you type a word that ends in 'st' it ends up looking like this: laSt, paSt, leaSt, requeSt. Methinks you have an over-eager spellchecker. Might want to look into that.

On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.
Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.
We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!
As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.

Hey, Fate/Stay Night author.
First of all, I will give you some points for realizing that Rin and Shirou would have to deal with a language barrier should they ever find themselves traveling to Arthurian Britain instead of just ignoring it entirely like everyone else does.
However, I'm going to have to take away those points because, in your ever-so-infinite wisdom, you decided that this language barrier would be represented by having Rin and Shirou speak English/Japanese-translated-into-English while everyone else speaks Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe (if you value your productivity, you will not google that phrase. It will lead you straight to TV Tropes).
...Yeah, a couple of things.
1) Thou art Doing It Wrong.
2) Contrary to what you might think, what you're writing isn't faux-Old English (which is what Arturia and her fellow Arthurian-era pals would presumably be speaking) but faux-Middle English. You can tell the difference between them in that Old English is a different fucking language
3) The above wouldn't be so bad if it only lasted for a few sentences before Rin realized, "Duh! I have magical fucking powers!" and did whatever you have to do to turn on the Translator Microbes, sparing us from yourMiddle Old English fail. You, however, decided that she instead will also speak faux-Middle Old English -- meaning, OH GOD, MY EYES!
4) How does Rin just happen to know "fluent"Middle Old English? Seriously.

In genderbender fic there is very often a scene where the formerly guy-shaped person attempts to shave his legs.* How come he always, always manages to cut himself?
Admittedly I don't shave my legs that often since I'm not a very hairy person (and doesn't really care to do it) so I don' have a that big sample-size. But I have never ever managed to cut myself. Not even the first time I tried it.
So how come these guys who managed to successfully shave their faces daily all their adult life, which I understand is far more complicated than legs due to all the nooks and crannies, always end up doing a reenactment of Carrie?
*Also applicable to any other situation where a guy-shaped person decides for whatever reason to shave his legs.

Manchester United are giving a trial to Austrian goalkeeper Michael Langer.
The 24-year-old is currently second-choice at German club Freiburg behind France goalkeeper Simon Pouplin but is still highly regarded. He is 6ft 5in and was formerly at Stuttgart.
United are weighing up their options because Tomasz Kuszczak is keen to move on and there are concerns over Ben Foster’s form.
United have scouted several keepers but anticipate Edwin van der Sar may yet sign another one year deal.
